Oh Deer!

“She sees arise

The second time.

From the sea, the earth,

Completely green.

The cascades fall,

The eagle soars,

From lofty mounts

Pursues its prey.”

Octopus

While on a ferry to Ireland a couple of months ago I was inspired by the waves and landscape to digitally paint this image, featuring this quote by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Below the thunders of the upper deep,

Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,

His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep

The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee

About his shadowy sides; above him swell

Huge sponges of millennial growth and height;

And far away into the sickly light,

From many a wondrous grot and secret cell

Unnumbered and enormous polypi

Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green.

There hath he lain for ages, and will lie

Battening upon huge sea worms in his sleep,

Until the latter fire shall heat the deep;

Then once by man and angels to be seen,

In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.

The Trade

My posting has gone to pot recently, partially because I’m currently working on the next book from Frisson Comics

The Trade Which we are now funding via Kickstarter.
โ€‹โ€‹

Like with our last book Take Only Photographs, Leave Only Footprints, we’re trying to create a unique horror experience for our readers, using inks and quills to get a very organic line and natural aesthetic to the story.

I hope if this is any interest you might check out our campaign or even share it for us! This book is a must for indie comic fans ๐Ÿ™‚

We decided to add a project video for our awesome Kickstarter horror comic ‘Take Only Photographs, Leave Only Footprints’ย ย The campaign is currently doing really well and we have 12 days left. I’m finding working on the campaign is really exciting so far and i’m enjoying the response that my art has had from the public, i’m really excited to get it published!

Kraken

Kraken

Digital media, 2012

I’ve been looking through a lot of my older digital artworks recently and will post a few over the next few days. This one is a digital artwork I painted on Photoshop, it is my interpretation of a Kraken and is part of a project I did about Victoria Street in Liverpool. Liverpool is an old docking city and for that reason a lot of the wealth comes from abroad, I decided to look at old water legends and explore the concept of them coming on land and taking back the wealth. Here is the Kraken wrapped around the old post office in Liverpool

Digital

Digital- Photoshop, Wacom Bamboo

This is my rough image of a submission I’m creating for Elemental at Partia in Aintree hospital. This is the first digital image I’ve created in over a year now and I feel that it turned out okay. The idea of the piece is to look at both the destructive qualities of fire and the cleansing. The forest is destroyed which is sad but new life comes in its wake.ย  For display purposes of this image I’ve bought wooden board which I am going to collage this image onto and work into it.
